A hair removal laser must target the pigment in the hair
follicles so that the laser beam concentrates there and causes the follicles to fall out.
The best candidates for laser hair removal have dark hair.
Because hair grows in three phases, only the actively growing
hairs can be pulsed by a laser beam. The resting stage hairs will need to mature into
growing hairs with pigment in them before they can be eliminated.
This means that more than one treatment will be necessary. An
average number of total treatments for one site will be five to six for complete hair
removal. However, each site and skin type is a bit different; therefore, treatments are
individualized. The upper lip and chin usually require four sessions. Bikini lines may
take five sessions.
